A national conference on “Political Dimensions of Legal Surveillance: A Critical Perspective” examined the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in policing in India. Experts, researchers, and law enforcement officials discussed how emerging technologies are transforming investigations, surveillance, and crime prevention.

During the conference, Jharkhand Inspector General of Police Kranthi Kumar Gadidesi delivered the keynote address, highlighting both the opportunities and risks of AI-driven policing. He stressed that while AI can enhance efficiency, improve data analysis, and strengthen investigative capabilities, it must be used with proper safeguards, transparency, and accountability to prevent misuse.
